Job Title: Quality Control Officer - Laboratory Operations
Reporting To: Central Laboratory Manager
Department: Quality Control / Central Laboratory Team
Role Summary:
The Quality Control (QC) Officer is responsible for overseeing daily laboratory operations, ensuring efficient sample testing, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement. The role supports audit readiness and team development while maintaining high standards aligned with GLP, GDP, and ISO 17025 requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Laboratory Operations: Supervise and coordinate the accurate and timely testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and final products according to defined test plans and turnaround times.
Regulatory Compliance: Promote adherence to internal policies and external regulations, including health & safety, GLP, GDP, ISO 17025, and other quality standards.
Facility & Equipment Efficiency: Optimize testing processes and ensure high equipment uptime within the new laboratory facility to maintain consistent QC services.
Team Management: Oversee shift schedules, staff planning, payroll coordination, and support professional development for laboratory team members.
Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with internal departments (production, quality assurance, technical) and external parties (suppliers, service providers) to align on quality expectations and resolve issues.
System & Process Improvement: Review and enhance laboratory systems including LIMS, SOPs, methods, and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Validation Activities: Lead validation efforts for new laboratory equipment and testing methods, including statistical analysis, data review, and reporting.
Note: Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required. All activities must be performed in full compliance with relevant safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Degree in a science-related field
- Minimum 3 years' laboratory experience (e.g. Food, Beverage, Pharma, or Environmental sectors)
- Hands-on experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
- Proven leadership experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to maintain audit-ready laboratory systems
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
- Detail-oriented, results-driven, and data-focused
