QA Test Lead - Permanent (Hybrid - Cork)
Location: Cork (Hybrid - 2 days onsite, moving to 3)
Type: Full-time, Permanent
Level: Mid to Senior Level
Function: Quality Assurance / Test Leadership
The Opportunity
We're partnering with a long-established and rapidly growing tech-focused organisation in Cork to help hire a QA Test Lead. This is a newly created role to support the growth and structure of an expanding QA function.
You'll step into a leadership position within a large QA team, working alongside an experienced Test Manager. The business has seen considerable team expansion this year and is now looking to balance leadership by appointing a second Test Lead.
This is a great opportunity for a QA professional with some people leadership experience-or someone ready to step up into it-to take the next step in their career.
Key Responsibilities
- The QA Test Lead will support a team of around 10-12 testers, working in parallel with the existing Test Lead.
- You'll take ownership of test planning and strategy while coordinating quality assurance delivery across active projects.
- This role focuses more on oversight, mentoring, and team support than hands-on testing.
- You'll be expected to lead meetings, collaborate with delivery leads, and act as a key contact for QA within your area of responsibility.
Technical Environment
- The QA team works across a variety of systems, including internal platforms and some external-facing applications. Adaptability is important, as priorities and platforms may shift.
- Test automation is in place using a number of tools.
- Cypress is currently used for UI/UX testing. API testing is transitioning to JEST.
- For back-end processes such as claims automation, Java and JUnit are used. In-house tools are also part of the stack.
- You don't need to be a coding expert, but a solid technical understanding and comfort with test automation is expected.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- This role suits a QA Lead or an experienced Senior QA who has some people leadership or mentoring experience, or someone who is ready to take the next step into team leadership.
- Strong communication skills are important, as is the confidence to lead meetings and help shape delivery. Cultural fit is key - someone who is team-focused, communicative, and brings a positive and professional approach.
- Experience within regulated environments or familiarity with structured delivery practices would be beneficial, though not essential.
Why Apply?
This is a great opportunity to grow into or strengthen your leadership experience in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. The business is stable, forward-looking, and investing in scaling its QA function. You'll work with modern technologies and be part of a high-performing, friendly team with room for progression.
