Design Engineering Manager
I am working an exclusive client that specialises in the design, manufacture & after sales service support of isolator systems for micro-environments (aseptic) & containment of highly potent drug product. The client is based in Cork and delivers worldwide to leading pharmaceutical companies. This role is a pivotal part of their growth plans. The client is looking for someone with robust experience in managing mechanical design teams to tight deadlines, and also having excellent communication skills when in front of blue chip clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership/Strategy
- Lead Technical Design and Project Management Teams, empowering teams and individuals to excel.
- Key member of the leadership team setting direction for the company
- Contribute to the development of a robust company team structure through people development, talent reviews and performance management.
- Liaise with the CEO, COO and CFO to make business decisions, monitor and report on same Engineering/Automation
- Ensure the mechanical and automation teams have an integrated and co-ordinated approach to project design and technical solutions.
- Encourage a collaborative culture between design teams and functions to ensure robust product design and adherence to project schedule.
- Ensure projects are designed to meet applicable regulatory standards and Directives.
- Ensure project documentation (e.g., drawings, validation documents, instruction manuals) are delivered with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Programme & Project Management
- Plan, schedule and manage a production schedule of multiple high value projects, often with long lead times.
- Demonstrate ability to work on simultaneous projects with multiple stakeholders, priorities and design requirements.
- Monitor project risk and deliver risk mitigation strategy.
- Monitor project KPIs and navigate resolution of deviations.
Role Requirements:
- Very strong Project Management Design, Risk Management, Planning & Scheduling skills
- Experienced at or with strong knowledge of, Automation, Design, Mechanical Engineering & Supply Chain.
- Customer Focused and Relationship Building skills - this is a client facing role with projects of significant length and complexity.
- Be a motivated and enthusiastic leader with strong interpersonal and communication skills, who can leverage the abilities of all personnel working within the teams.
Experience:
- At least 7 years' experience in same or similar/relatable sector with emphasis on Project Management, Production Management, Planning & Scheduling, within a team-based manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Capital Equipment / Machine Building background desirable.
- Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Production Engineering or equivalent desirable.
- Project Management and/or Automation qualification desirable.
- Experienced at preparing business strategies and implementing action plans.
- PC literate and strong knowledge of Inventory & of ERP systems.
