Key Responsibilities
- 
Serve as a cross-site technical authority in controls, mechanical engineering, and systems integration. 
- 
Define, maintain, and enforce engineering standards and playbooks across design, debug, and build phases. 
- 
Drive technical excellence in controls programming and mechanical design, ensuring seamless integration across all machine builds. 
- 
Lead customer-facing technical engagements-from design reviews through FAT/SAT-acting as the primary technical assurance point. 
- 
Collaborate with Sales and Program Management to assess technical feasibility, accurately scope projects, and build customer confidence. 
- 
Oversee debug and integration risk, leading structured problem-solving efforts for complex escalations. 
- 
Champion the adoption of digital twin and simulation tools to de-risk and accelerate commissioning activities. 
- 
Mentor and develop engineering talent across disciplines, strengthening technical capability and succession planning. 
- 
Ensure all engineering processes comply with technical and regulatory standards. 
- 
Influence and align cross-functional leaders to drive adherence to engineering standards, even without direct line authority. 
Qualifications & Experience
- 
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Systems Engineering. 
- 
15+ years of experience in automation or machine building, ideally within the life sciences or medical device sectors. 
- 
Expert-level knowledge of Controls Engineering, complemented by strong Mechanical Engineering expertise. 
- 
Proven experience leading customer-facing projects through design, debug, FAT/SAT, and validation stages. 
- 
Demonstrated success managing and influencing within a matrix organization, balancing cross-site and cross-functional priorities. 
- 
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with customers, sales teams, and technical staff. 
- 
Familiarity with vision systems and industrial communication protocols. 
- 
Strong understanding of relevant regulatory and industry standards.
