The Opportunity:
Morgan McKinley has been retained as the exclusive talent partner for a leading US-listed global technology brand expanding its finance operations in Cork. We are seeking a Commercial Finance & Operations Manager to take full end-to-end ownership of a critical, high-visibility finance function.
This is a senior position designed for an ambitious finance professional seeking broad impact across operational decision-making, inventory governance, standard costing, and financial controls within a SOX-compliant environment.
Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will oversee operational accounting, standard costing, inventory valuation, period cost reporting, and management presentations. Acting as a strategic partner to the US Corporate Controller, FP&A, Operations, and External Audit teams, you will bridge the gap between financial control and commercial operations.
A core objective of this role is leading process simplification, driving continuous improvement, and automating workflows across the global finance function.
Note: Flexibility to work overlapping hours with US time zones during quarterly close cycles is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational & Standard Costing Leadership: Own the end-to-end standard costing architecture, including quarterly cost uploads, new SKU administration, and overhead rate reviews.
- Inventory Governance & Reserves: Lead quarterly evaluations and reporting for complex inventory reserves (including Excess & Obsolete, Lower of Cost or Market, Used Inventory, and ODM Excess Materials Liabilities).
- Executive Reporting & Variance Analysis: Prepare and present period cost actuals, forecasts, and standard margin reconciliations to senior leadership, delivering insights on key operational metrics, purchase price variances (PPV), and tariff/duty impacts.
- Systems Transformation & Automation: Champion continuous improvement initiatives to streamline, digitize, and automate manual accounting workflows and trial balance allocations.
- Audit & SOX Compliance: Serve as the primary contact for external auditors (Deloitte) on inventory controls, cost trial balance reviews, and SOX-relevant processes.
- Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management: Provide direct oversight, mentoring, and day-to-day guidance to team members, ensuring high quality and timely execution across all deliverables.
What We Are Looking For
- Professional Credential: ACA, ACCA, CIMA/CPA, or equivalent recognized accounting qualification.
- Industry Experience: Proven track record in operational accounting, inventory control, or commercial finance within a technology, manufacturing, or hardware environment.
- Technical Standards: Solid foundation in standard costing, inventory valuation, and reserve calculations within US GAAP and SOX-compliant frameworks.
- Systems Expertise: Proficiency in Oracle EBS/OCI or major tier-1 ERP systems, paired with advanced Excel capabilities (experience with OAS or modern reporting automation tools is an advantage).
- Leadership & Collaboration: Strong communication skills with the confidence to present to executive stakeholders and collaborate across global cross-functional teams.
