My client is currently seeking an Authentication & Authorization Security Engineer to join their growing cyber security team in Cork. This is a technical role focused on supporting and operating 24/7 identity authentication platforms. The position plays a key role in ensuring secure, reliable, and timely access to enterprise resources while contributing to the ongoing development and maturity of an Identity and Access Management (IAM) strategy.
Role Responsibilities
- Operate and support IAM authentication systems on a 24/7 basis, including participation in a rotating on-call schedule
- Handle incident, change, and problem management related to identity services, ensuring rapid issue resolution and minimal downtime.
- Monitor system health and performance, perform maintenance, apply patches, and implement security updates.
- Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventative solutions.
- Maintain detailed documentation, reports, and system configurations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure operational alignment, compliance, and risk management.
- Support audits, compliance requests, and user-facing IAM issues.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive operational excellence.
- Participation in a structured on-call rotation supporting global teams.
- Weekend on-call coverage every 4-6 weeks, with additional compensation for on-call availability and hours worked.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 1-3 years of experience supporting IAM solutions, particularly Entra ID, Active Directory, and/or Okta.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with distributed teams and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Familiarity with IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL).
- Knowledge of authentication and federated identity protocols (MFA, Kerberos, OAuth, SAML, OpenID Connect, etc.).
- Scripting or development experience (e.g., PowerShell, Python, NodeJS, PHP).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure) and cloud security concepts.
- Relevant security certifications such as CISSP or CISM.
