QC Microbiology Technician
11 month contract role
Onsite in Carlow
An established life sciences organisation is seeking a QC Microbiology Technician to join its microbiology laboratory team. This is a great opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to gain hands-on experience in a regulated environment, supporting quality and compliance activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine microbiological testing, including bioburden, environmental monitoring, water (WFI) sampling, endotoxin testing, and plate enumeration
- Ensure all data and documentation comply with data integrity principles (ALCOA) and GMP requirements
- Maintain a clean, compliant, and inspection-ready laboratory environment, following all safety and PPE guidelines
- Support sample management activities, including handling, tracking, and storage
- Assist in the preparation, review, and update of SOPs, training materials, and laboratory documentation
- Identify and report deviations or non-conformances, supporting investigations where required
- Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives within the lab
Requirements:
- Degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific discipline
- 1-2 years' experience in a GMP-regulated laboratory environment
- Good understanding of GMP/GLP and aseptic techniques
- Strong attention to detail with good documentation and technical writing skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Effective communication and organisational skills
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a microbiology laboratory setting
- Familiarity with environmental monitoring, bioburden, endotoxin testing, and water sampling
