Job Description

Join an international team in a foreign insurance firm, leading all of their IT endeavours for the Japan market. Working from home and flextime available.


  • Technology Leadership: Spearhead the development and execution of the technology strategy aligned with the company's business objectives. Build roadmaps for important developments and rollouts for the coming years.
  • Global Collaboration: Foster collaboration between technology teams across different locations, especially Japan and the HQ abroad, promoting a cohesive and innovative work environment.
  • Digital Transformation: Through a thorough understanding of new technologies and methodologies, drive adoption of them in the IT and business teams. Find ways to increase efficiency and keep costs low.
  • Innovation Hub: Establish the company as a hub for technological innovation within the insurance industry, exploring new technologies, driving digital initiatives, and finding ways to bring new products to market utilizing technology.
  • Build teams: you will oversee 5 teams, and help to elevate their technical and professional levels, as well as help hire new talent.
  • Data Analytics Mastery: Leverage data analytics to make informed decisions, drive operational efficiency, and enhance customer experience.

Required skills

  • Fluent in both Japanese and English (written and spoken).
  • Proven leadership experience in a senior technology role within the insurance or financial sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance technologies, trends, and regulatory requirements. Ability to understand software development and its lifecycle (SDLC) well, so you can help guide the enterprise architecture.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align technology initiatives with business goals.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
