The Aviation Technology Manager plays a crucial role in shaping and enhancing our aviation technology landscape. This role involves a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and strategic thinking. The Aviation Technology Manager will be responsible for driving technology solutions and fostering innovation in the aviation domain. Reporting into the CTO
Major Responsibilities:
- Enterprise and Data Architecture: Participate in and contribute to Enterprise and Data Architecture initiatives, ensuring alignment with the organization's overarching goals.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Gather, manage, and represent internal aviation stakeholder requirements to both internal teams and external parties, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
- Training and Adoption: Develop and deliver training materials to introduce new systems and promote increased usage of existing ones, empowering teams to leverage technology effectively.
- Change Champion: Be a champion for change within the organization, challenging the business to think differently and embrace new tools and technologies.
- Strategic Communication: Represent and communicate technology strategy to internal stakeholders and external vendors, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Vendor Evaluation: Evaluate vendor solutions for their functional and non-functional fit within the organization's technology strategy and strategic goals.
- Technology Assessment: Evaluate, proof, and recommend technologies to meet business requirements, adhering to core values of preferring buying over building and configuring over customizing.
- System Integration: Align aviation-specific solutions with the broader organizational systems landscape, ensuring seamless integration and compatibility.
- Implementation Leadership: Engage in implementation efforts, collaborating with internal and external resources, guiding engineering efforts, and providing hands-on support when necessary to achieve mission-critical objectives.
- Documentation: Document and curate system and data integration processes to mitigate key person risk and ensure continuity.
- Project Involvement: Participate in roadmap planning, estimation, and project sizing activities to align technology initiatives with business goals.
- Agile Methodology: Engage in the agile software development lifecycle to deliver technology solutions efficiently and adapt to changing requirements.
Experience and Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience working in a Scrum or Agile project management methodology.
- 5+ years of experience working in a consulting role or ITIL Business Relationship Management (BRM) role.
- Experience with common integration patterns and data management architectures.
- Exposure to modern software engineering philosophies and techniques such as CI/CD, TDD, Zero defects, and DevOps.
- Demonstrable knowledge of data modeling.
- Proficiency in creating technical and user-facing documentation, including technical design documents, standards documents, and infrastructure diagrams.
- Awareness of security and compliance standards and requirements.
- Ideally, experience in either buy-side investment management or aviation leasing domains.

- Mature personality with exceptional character and a high degree of integrity and ethics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to synthesize and deliver coaching and training to non-technical staff.
- Proactive and entrepreneurial drive, with the ability to work in a dynamic, high-pressure, and intense workload environment with minimal hierarchy and direction.
- Team player orientation with the ability to collaborate with cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural teams.
- Strong attention to detail while maintaining perspective on the big picture.
- Sense of urgency, with the ability to produce high-quality materials within tight timeframes while managing multiple priorities.
