Job Description: Technical Lead - Facilities Work Package
This role is the technical anchor for the "envelope and infrastructure" of the Novo Nordisk Athlone expansion. While the MEP and Utilities leads focus on the internal "organs," you are responsible for the physical body of the facility-the architectural integrity, cleanroom fabric, and the critical facility management systems that allow the building to function as a world-class pharmaceutical hub.
Role Overview
- Location: Athlone, Ireland
- Scope: Cleanroom Architecture (Panels, Doors, Flooring), General Building Services, Life Safety Systems, and Site Infrastructure.
- Objective: To ensure the facility is built to a "Grade A" standard that is both compliant with global health authorities (FDA/HPRA) and optimised for long-term maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Architectural & Cleanroom Integrity
- Cleanroom Fabric: Technical oversight of the installation of walk-on ceilings, epoxy/vinyl flooring, and hermetically sealed door systems.
- Pressure Boundary Management: Ensuring the "tightness" of the building envelope to maintain the pressure cascades defined by the HVAC Technical Lead.
- Material Selection: Reviewing and approving materials for chemical resistance, durability, and low-particulate emission.
2. Life Safety & Security Systems
- Fire & Life Safety: Lead the technical implementation of fire detection, suppression, and emergency lighting systems in accordance with Irish building codes and FM Global standards.
- Security Infrastructure: Oversight of site access control, CCTV, and intruder alarms, ensuring they integrate with the wider Novo Nordisk global security network.
- Building Management: Coordination of vertical transportation (lifts/elevators) and loading dock equipment.
3. Site Infrastructure & Civil Interface
- Underground Services: Managing the technical specifications for drainage (process and foul), water mains, and site-wide electrical ducting.
- Fit-out Coordination: Ensuring that non-process areas (offices, laboratories, canteens) are technically sound and meet modern ergonomic and sustainability standards.
