A leading global biopharmaceutical organization is seeking a contract Project Manager to lead and support the delivery of GMP Lab Systems projects across the full project lifecycle. This role focuses on laboratory systems, instrumentation, data management platforms, and enabling IT/AIT components within a regulated GMP environment.
Reporting to the Projects Programme Manager, you will independently manage small to medium-sized projects and support Senior Project Managers on larger, strategic initiatives. Projects will span GMP benchtop test equipment, analytical technology upgrades, and supporting utility or facility modifications.
- Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accountable for meeting key project deliverables for safety, financial management, schedule, and scope across all projects.
- Lead projects from concept and business case development through design, execution, commissioning, and final close-out using stage-gate principles.
- Partner with stakeholders across Quality Control, Quality Assurance, IT/AIT, Validation, and Engineering to clarify end-user requirements and manage expectations.
- Manage project financials, including developing budgets, forecasting cash flow, tracking spend, and negotiating with suppliers using SAP and budgeting tools.
- Utilize planning tools to manage complex schedules, coordinate parallel activities, and execute risk management plans to mitigate business interruption.
- Generate procurement specifications for equipment/instrumentation and coordinate engineering support for validation activities.
- Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills Required:
- A degree in an engineering or relevant scientific discipline is preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of project engineering or project management experience across the full lifecycle within a pharmaceutical environment.
- Deep familiarity with project lifecycle stage-gate processes and good engineering practices.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional project teams, contractors, and diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with proficiency in MS Office tools (Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with biologic manufacturing sites, SAP, and direct financial performance management is highly desirable.
