Our client, a market-leading distributor of electrical products and solutions is seeking an Inventory Accountant to join their finance team.
This is a hands-on, analytical role focused on ensuring accurate inventory reporting, strong stock control, and meaningful insights that support both financial performance and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate inventory records within the ERP system (Microsoft D365) and reconcile to the general ledger
- Investigate stock discrepancies and support continuous improvement of stock controls
- Coordinate and analyse cycle counts and annual stock takes
- Manage costing and valuation, including landed cost accuracy and stock valuation reviews
- Support month-end close activities, audits, and preparation of inventory schedules
- Identify weaknesses in inventory processes and contribute to system and control enhancements
Requirements:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent) OR equivalent experience in a similar role.
- 2-5 years' experience in inventory, stock, or supply chain accounting
- Strong Excel and data analysis capability; comfortable with large data sets
- Experience working with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Navision, etc.) - Microsoft D365 experience is a plus
- Background in distribution, manufacturing, wholesale, or retail
- Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and a collaborative mindset
