About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join a centralised Data & Analytics function on a contract basis. In this role, you will play a key part in designing and building data solutions that enable advanced analytics, business intelligence, and AI initiatives. You'll be responsible for transforming raw data into structured, reliable datasets that drive business insights and decision-making.
The Team
You will be part of a specialist Data Solutions team focused on data sourcing, integration, and standardisation. The team's mission is to deliver clean, high-quality, and scalable data pipelines that underpin analytics and data management across the organisation. Working closely with peers across data engineering and operations, you will contribute to building a robust and future-ready data infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement ETL processes to deliver consumable data for analytics.
Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure best practices in pipeline development and solution delivery.
Support the resolution of complex data quality issues and drive continuous improvements.
Contribute to technical documentation and cross-team knowledge sharing.
Stay current with emerging technologies, suggesting improvements and best practices where applicable.
Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced engineers within the team.
Requirements
Essential:
Proven experience as a Data Engineer with expertise in enterprise-class data platforms (e.g. Teradata Vantage, Snowflake).
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, IT, or a related field.
Strong experience with data pipeline creation, ETL development, data modelling, APIs, and working with both structured and unstructured data.
Proficiency in Python, SQL, and familiarity with NoSQL databases and big data tools.
Desirable:
Experience with Teradata EDW and data warehousing.
Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g. Hadoop, Spark).
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
Exposure to service management tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
