This is an excellent opportunity for a Site Engineer to join one of Ireland's leading contractors with large scale projects across Cork
Position: Site Engineer
Location: Cork
Salary : €50-60k DOE plus bonus, pension and company car
The main responsibilities include:
- Manage construction works on site to ensure that they are completed safely, in line with the program, and in accordance with the project drawings, specifications, Building Regulations, and relevant standards for infrastructure, roads, and civil engineering works.
- Take ownership of the day-to-day management of the site technical & engineering requirements (RFIs, Submittals, Shop Drawings, Design Team Workshops, etc.), particularly those relating to groundworks, utility ducting, road alignments, drainage systems, and site infrastructure packages.
- Set out site works using robotic total stations, GPS, and other surveying tools, ensuring precise measurements and layouts for infrastructure elements such as roadways, footpaths, duct banks, manholes, and stormwater systems.
- Ensure that quality control measures are implemented across all civil works, including road sub-base and surfacing, duct installation, drainage, and retaining structures, in line with the overall BCAR plan and relevant codes (e.g., TII, Irish Water, or local authority requirements).
- Liaise closely with consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, and quantity surveyors, particularly on coordination of underground services, road construction sequencing, temporary works, and traffic management plans.
- Support the Project Manager/Contracts Manager to ensure that all infrastructure and civil engineering works are delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Proactively identify information gaps in infrastructure-related packages, develop engineering solutions, and coordinate effectively with the design team to resolve issues on services coordination, ducting clashes, or pavement construction details.
- Maintain excellent working relationships with the full construction team, subcontractors, and utility providers, ensuring that road openings, ducting installations, and service diversions are coordinated efficiently and in compliance with statutory requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Third level qualification in Engineering or related discipline.
- Knowledge of various types of construction and construction techniques.
- 2+ years experience on Irish Construction projects
- Competent in all aspects of set out, survey & level, temporary works coordination.
- Strong numeracy and report writing skills.
- Ability to formulate plans and execute in line with budget and timeline.
- Ability to make informed decisions & know when to escalate.
