Position: Quality Control Laboratory Analyst (Fixed-Term Contract)
A manufacturing company is currently seeking a Quality Control Laboratory Analyst to join its Quality Control Laboratory on a full-time, fixed-term contract (FTC) basis in Shannon. This is a dynamic and hands-on role involving a range of analytical responsibilities to support laboratory operations and maintain compliance with ISO 17025 standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carrying out duties under the guidance of the Laboratory Manager, following all health and safety protocols.
- Receiving, logging, and managing samples for laboratory testing.
- Performing analysis on raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, and retention samples according to defined specifications.
- Conducting testing of finished products in line with relevant national and international standards (e.g., IS EN), as assigned.
- Accurately recording analytical data and ensuring timely reporting.
- Achieving departmental performance metrics related to laboratory analysis.
- Adhering to the lab's quality management system and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Ensuring proper labeling and handling of reagents and test samples.
- Assisting with troubleshooting analytical methods and equipment issues.
- Supporting the review and maintenance of SOPs and product specifications to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Participating in non-conformance investigations and completing laboratory investigation reports as needed.
- Keeping personal training records current in accordance with safety, environmental, and quality system requirements.
- Assisting with procurement of lab consumables and communicating with approved vendors.
- Taking part in assigned projects under the direction of quality or laboratory leadership.
- Contributing to initiatives related to the company's continuous improvement program.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- A degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 1 year' experience in a similar quality control or laboratory role or a college internship.
- Living or commutable to Shannon.
- Hands-on experience with analytical techniques including spectrometry, wet chemistry (titrations, pH, density, turbidity, moisture analysis), and instrument maintenance.
- Prior work in an industrial or manufacturing lab setting is a plus.
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems or related software is an advantage.
