Job Specification - Head of Engineering Services and Facilities

Lead the engineering services and facilities department to deliver operational and project success. Provide a hands-on leadership approach to getting things done.

Develop and manage engineering project budgets, working closely with finance colleagues for accurate financial planning, reporting, and management of costs.

Safe working environments and regulatory compliance are core responsibilities of the role. Ensure that all responsibilities within the scope of the role are carried out in compliance with safety regulations and relevant industry standards.

Drive continuous improvement by planning and managing Opex and selected Capex projects aimed at enhancing infrastructure, operational efficiency, and overall user experience.

Coordinate project scope, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Collaborate with architects, designers, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

Implement systems and processes for efficient data retrieval and ensure compliance with data security standards.

Ensure adherence to public procurement guidelines, maintaining compliance and ensuring competitive procedures are followed.

Prepare and maintain documentation for regulatory audits and inspections.

Cross-functional collaboration is a key part of the role, for example working with IT, Finance, and Operations colleagues on projects.

Drive and promote a culture of project management excellence in the organisation.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
The candidate should have:

A minimum of a recognized qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or a related field to bachelor's degree level.

At least 12 years of engineering experience, with a minimum of 8 years in a team leadership or managerial role, demonstrating success in performance management and people development.

Experience in regulated, safety-critical, or complex operational environments is desirable.

Proven experience in project management.

Skilled user of engineering software, project management tools (e.g., AutoCAD), MS Office, and BIM systems.

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Possess a high level of drive and energy, with the ability to make things happen.
