Job Description
A global medical technology company is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their team on an initial 12 month FTC.
This is an exciting 12 month fixed term contract, with the potential of a permanent role in the future for the right candidate. The Manufacturing Engineer is involved with ensuring all manufacturing processes are run safely and to schedule. You will report to the Engineering Manager or Engineering Lead.
Responsibilities
- Improve product quality, labour efficiency, and throughput through the use of improved manufacturing techniques using Six Sigma principles
- Participate and sometimes leads on project teams with engineers, technicians and other professionals of various disciplines/departments to continuously improve product, equipment, and fixture processes on the manufacturing line
- Initiate and develop process validations, software validation and equipment validations
- Equipment design, development and optimisation for more complex equipment
- Perform engineering work typically including one of the following: process/product improvements, test of materials, preparation of specifications, process study, evaluation of process models/process improvements, development improvement of equipment, tools, fixtures and report preparation
- Understands and performs Project plans, risk analysis project updates and Project implementation for more complex projects
- Understands and can create Process FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) review and update
- Update of manufacturing and test method Documentation to reflect current practice
- Part of a team that can conduct complaints investigations, CAPA investigations and Continuous Improvement activities to improve the product or process
- Plans and coordinates engineering test builds
- Participates in analysis of problems in design, process and test development, using Six Sigma principles
- Prepares and presents oral and written project updates and technical discussions
Requirements
- You will have a minimum of Bachelors degree in engineering plus a minimum of two years' experience (ideally in the medical device) or a Master's degree in a technical field
- Any GMP experience a distinct advantage
- Ability to make and present engineering decisions
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Basic engineering cost analysis
- Basic tooling and design and drafting knowledge
- Analyse and optimise existing process and ability to create new processes
- Create, analyse and optimise manufacturing and quality systems
- Ability to create and provide training
- Basic Comparative statistics
- Software application skills (Minitab, SolidWorks, AutoCad)
- Problem solving ability
- Ability to create, review and coordinate test protocols and reports
- Ability to generate engineering proposals
- Oral and written presentation skills
- Ability to work in cross functional teams
- Six Sigma Knowledge, Yellow Belt Certified
- Understanding of regulatory environment
