Fantastic permanent opportunity for a Tax Manager to support the product and investment tax team, develop the tax strategy for product and investment taxes, and the management of associated risks.

You will be asked to develop a good understanding of how the business operates and work with a wide range of other service providers across a range of territories to ensure that tax affairs are effectively managed.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing the daily and ad hoc investment tax considerations. This includes for example, withholding taxes, capital gains taxes, transfer and stamp taxes on fund investments.
  • Advise and manage the investment tax element of product activities including fund launches, mergers, and closures
  • Work across the business to ensure investment tax risks, obligations and opportunities are identified including Front Office, Product, Finance, Operations, Legal and Compliance and third-party service providers
  • Analyse and interpret double tax treaties and how they apply to company funds and investments
  • Compile research on tax impacts to funds for new and existing investments and products. Assessing tax impact of new markets, regulations or investment strategies
  • Provide tax technical support to the business operational teams
  • Establish and maintain internal tax policies in relation to investment taxes, risks and procedures
  • Assist business with understanding and monitoring the tax impact and requirements for investing in new and existing territories
  • Keep up to date with relevant UK and overseas taxation changes that affect the fund range and its investments and advise business areas, including Distribution and Portfolio Management, of any implications that may arise
  • Work with key stakeholders to ensure that both ongoing needs and ad hoc requests are met in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Contribute to an effective risk and controls framework for tax

Qualifications

  • Professional qualifications: CTA/ATT/ACA/ACCA or equivalent accountancy qualification although candidates qualified by experience would also be considered
  • Exposure to investment management tax issues
  • Independent, self-starter who enjoys managing and analysing different streams of activity, with an eye for detail but an ability to stand back and see the wider picture
  • An ability to adapt to change and a natural drive towards continuous improvement
