This company are a major player in the energy and utilities sector in Ireland. Their long term strategy is being dictated by climate change and the transition to low carbon, renewable energy. In order to develop their infrastructure it requires a great deal of engagement with communites, landowners, local government and various other stakeholders. The Senior Planner is an integral part of this engagement team which is central to project delivery, providing strategic planning and environmental advice and working with key stakeholders.
Support the Head of Public Engagement and Planning and Environmental Team Lead in organising work to successfully deliver goals.
Take ownership of the planning and consenting aspects of projects at pre-consent, consent and post-consent stages and provide strategic planning guidance in respect of the development of the infrastructure.
Prepare key reports that are required as part of the planning process as well as coordinating external consultants in the preparation of same as may be the case.
Identify, evaluate and develop possible solutions to risks and issues arising on projects and escalating as necessary.
Support engagement with key project stakeholders including An Bord Pleanála, local authorities, and other statutory and non-statutory bodies, and to provide advice and ensure consistency in relation to EIA, SEA, and other planning processes and planning application documentation.
Consider legal issues that may arise in the course of the project and collaborate with the Legal Function (and external legal advisors as required).
Support internal and external working groups to bring about change within the regulatory and legal environment.
Build effective relationships with multiple stakeholders and manage customer interfaces including progress meetings, reporting, relationship management, coordination and general communication.
Provide advice, including the making of submissions, in relation to the local, regional and national statutory and strategic development plans and advice in relation to the strategic and key statutory planning issues arising with the proposed development.
Assist in the development and implementation of new or enhanced processes in the organisation.
