Morgan McKinley has been asked to source a senior Commercial Litigation Lawyer for a Legal Manager vacancy with the Regulatory Decisions Unit of a Banking institution.
It is essential that you have proven experience of project managing and/or leading a team of 10 plus experienced lawyers. The opportunity could be of interest to senior lawyers looking for more control over their work/life balance.
The purpose of the role is to contribute to the execution of the Bank's enforcement strategy by leading, developing and managing a team within the Regulatory Decisions Unit ("RDU") to ens ture that the decision making processes across its regulatory regimes, are progressed in an efficient, effective and legally robust manner.
Responsibilities:
Manage and develop teams of highly qualified professionals, through effective direction, delegation, performance management and coaching to ensure all staff members can achieve the required performance standards, meet their own job enrichment / development objectives, and deliver the required results for RDU and the Bank.
Providing legal advice to decision makers in certain regulatory regimes, in particular in relation to administrative law issues eg fair procedures, duty to give reasons.
Leading and developing policy matters across the Regulatory Regimes including implementation of changes to policy and procedures arising from legislation.
Responsibility for the timely and efficient progression of cases allocated to RDU, including: o Effective on-going allocation and reallocation of resources and cooperation with peers regarding the efficient allocation of Team resources across RDU;
Work collaboratively with the other RDU Managers, ensuring continuous knowledge sharing development of policy and procedures and facilitate effective resource allocation across the team.
Working with the Head of Dept, contribute to development of RDU, Legal and operational plans. Take responsibility for delivery of key elements of projects relevant to the Division.
Where appropriate, facilitate closer co-operation and close working relationships with internal stakeholders, through the sharing of knowledge and experiences and collaboration where possible on issues of common interest and importance so as to guard the interests of the Bank as a whole
Requirements:
Professional legal qualification as a Solicitor or Barrister including a Practising Certificate to practise in Ireland.
Minimum 8 years post qualification experience as a barrister or solicitor in a leading financial services law firm or bank/insurance institution
Experience of some or all of the following: administrative/public law litigation including application of principles of natural justice, large complex litigation and/or leading large/complex investigations.
