Job Description
A global construction and property company is looking for an Energy Manager to join their team and be responsible for implementing the energy stategy across Ireland, the UK and Europe.
The Energy Manager is responsible for implementing our Energy Management System and Strategy through proactive engagement with operational teams and execution of energy efficiency projects. The Energy Manager works with
other functions in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment delivering support and guidance in respect of energy consumption and associated carbon emissions. The Energy Manager assists our wider sustainability and operational
teams in helping the business achieve our energy and carbon reduction targets, implementing our net zero and sustainability strategies.
Core Responsibilities
- Promote the sustainability strategy and wider business core priorities, acting as a torchbearer, educating and helping others play their part in achieving our objectives
- Collaborate with the wider sustainability team to manage and reduce energy consumption and associated carbon emissions of the business
- Understand, communicate and be an advocate for our future strategic direction
- Help the business make informed decisions through the provision of robust energy consumption data and effective interpretation
- Support work winning activities, advising on energy related matters
- Support the delivery of training, briefings and workshops as required
- Be a trusted advisor to project teams
Role Specific Responsibilities
- Manage and further develop our ISO-50001 certified Energy Management System
- Support projects to minimise energy consumption through site visits and audits
- Maintain and analyse energy with a view to identifying energy reduction opportunities
- Commission and manage energy and carbon reduction projects
- Monitor and maintain Energy Performance Indicators and targets and report on performance
- Provide sound and industry leading advice to internal and external stakeholders
- Lead on achieving the objectives within the groups 2030 Sustainability Roadmap and strategic priorities
- Engage with Project Leads to role out energy reduction initiatives
- Attend sites on an ad-hoc basis to ensure effective implementation of our energy management system
- Coach staff at all levels in energy management expectations and standards
- Foster innovative ideas for enhanced energy performance and manage through to implementation
- Maintain awareness of critical legislative changes and industry standards
- Assist in the development of energy management and verification strategies for internal and external
- compliance
- Ensure continuous performance through regular reporting and reviews
Key Technical Skills
- Extensive energy management experience
- Relevant engineering or related technical degree and past experience in energy management
- Strong understanding of energy measurement and verification standards
- Robust knowledge of energy management systems and standards
- Strong project development capabilities for complex, largescale projects
- Knowledge of innovative energy reduction technologies
- Familiar with Microsoft Office 365 software suite
- Strong computer literacy
Key Management Skills
- Ability to work 'smart' and in a targeted way
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Strong communications and influencing skills, and an ability to develop and maintain partnerships with project teams,
- suppliers and stakeholders
- Ambitious, self-motivated and enthusiastic
- Thorough understanding on the construction industry and built environment
