Job Description

I am currently looking for a Senior Process Development/OEM Engineer with strong experience with conceptualisation to join a leading Automation company in Cork

As a Senior Process Development/OEM Engineer, you will be responsible for conceptualisation of solutions, development/design of Proof-Of-Concept (POP) tooling and supporting design and implementing final automated equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Small automation projects, providing fast turnaround independently of larger project cycle. (Design, specification, implementation and customer interaction)
  • Application engineering of medium to large projects including concept development as required
  • Concepting and prototyping projects, providing fast turnaround independently of normal workflow while collaborating with the internal design teams and the customer to develop advanced designs from concepts through to design and delivery
  • Specification and sourcing of suitable components for equipment liaising with sub-contract suppliers
  • Utilize 3D SolidWorks CAD in design of equipment
  • Liaise with electrical and control engineers to ensure design compatibility
  • Interacting with customer throughout the project life cycle
  • Ensure live and accurate BOM's and data is maintained for the POP's
  • Assemble the tooling in the test rig(s) and get it functioning
  • Carry out the POP trials. Record test results and process settings
  • Analysis of samples in conjunction with the customer, draw conclusions and write up POP reports
  • Draw up budget labour and material costings for POP work
  • Support budgeted labour and material costing estimates for production machine builds
  • Procurement initiatives for projects - providing efficiency and cost savings
  • Project lead on selected larger projects as required to drive on-time delivery of projects within budget
  • Interpret and develop appropriate documentation required for regulated industrial projects (e.g. URS, FAT etc.)

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience in industrial machine/fixture/automation design
  • Ability to take responsibility for large projects and manage cross-functional teams through a project's life cycle with experience working to a structured project management system
  • Experience in the development of bespoke equipment in a design engineering role in a process development environment in a regulated industry
  • Familiarity with motion control, vision systems, instrumentation systems, pneumatics, common actuators, and sensors
  • Strong experience using 3D CAD software, e.g. SolidWorks
  • Ability to write technical documentation/reports to a high standard and in a regulated industry
  • Experience in using Six-Sigma tools is an advantage
