About the Client
We are helping our investment bank client in hiring a Java Developer for their Front Office Automated Trading & Market Making team.
It would be a 12 months extendable secondment contact.
Key Responsibilities
- Core Trading Systems: Design, build, and maintain ultra-low-latency, high-throughput automated trading systems and execution algorithms.
- Performance Optimization: Profile and tune JVM performance, optimize threading models, and implement low-GC / zero-GC memory techniques to reduce microsecond-level latencies.
- Front Office Collaboration: Partner closely with traders and quants to refine pricing models, order routing logic, auto-hedging strategies, and risk controls.
- Architecture & Scalability: Architect resilient, fault-tolerant distributed systems, messaging pipelines, and exchange Connectivity protocols (FIX, binary market data feeds).
- Technical Leadership: Drive engineering best practices, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior and mid-level developers on the team.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience: 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with a strong focus on Front Office electronic trading systems.
- Core Java Expertise: Master-level proficiency in Core Java (Java 17/21), multithreading, concurrent programming, memory models, and NIO.
- Low-Latency Architecture: Demonstrated experience in low-latency / zero-GC development, JVM profiling/tuning, and high-performance messaging (e.g., LMAX Disruptor, Aeron, IPC, shared memory).
- Domain Knowledge: Solid understanding of financial markets, order book microstructures, FIX protocol, and order execution workflows (Equities, Options, Derivatives, or FX)
