A leading international securities firm is seeking an experienced Associate or Vice President to join its expanding Equity Finance desk in Hong Kong. The successful candidate will drive the execution and management of equity swaps, stock borrowing and lending (SBL), and broader financing strategies. The primary geographical focus for this role centers on North Asian markets, specifically Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea.
Trade Execution: Manage the day-to-day execution of synthetic equity products and swap transactions for institutional clients, ensuring strict compliance with local regulatory frameworks and internal risk protocols across HK, TW, and KR markets.
SBL Management: Oversee the sourcing, optimization, and allocation of equity inventory to support short-covering, funding, and directional trading activities across North Asia.
Market Analysis: Actively track market liquidity, corporate actions, and regulatory shifts in the HK, Taiwan, and Korean spaces to uncover arbitrage or optimized financing opportunities.
Risk & Portfolio Management: Monitor and hedge residual equity and FX exposures stemming from the desk's activities. Ensure meticulous trade capture and lifecycle management.
Internal Collaboration: Partner closely with internal stakeholders (Risk, Operations, and Compliance) to build cross-product synergies and maximize platform efficiency.
Compliance Safeguards: Maintain a rigorous risk-management posture, ensuring all trading activities align with both firm policies and specific regional market microstructure rules.
Academic Background: University degree in Finance, Economics, Quantitative Business Analysis, or a related discipline.
Professional Experience: 6 to 10 years of hands-on experience within an SBL, Delta One, or Cash Equities execution desk. A proven track record of navigating the market microstructures of Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea is highly advantageous.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of collateral optimization, equity derivatives, financing mechanics, and clearing/settlement nuances across Pan-Asian jurisdictions.
Systems & Tools: High proficiency in advanced Excel; strong working knowledge of institutional order management systems (OMS) and clearing platforms.
Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical capabilities, sharp problem-solving skills, and the capacity to communicate complex financial concepts clearly.
Languages: Complete fluency in English is mandatory. Language skills in Mandarin and Cantonese will be viewed favorably.
