About the role
We are looking for an innovative Senior Packaging Design Engineer to lead the creation of next-generation packaging mechanisms and dispensing systems. In this role, you will bridge the gap between product development and mass production-using rapid prototyping, 3D CAD modeling, and design thinking to create sustainable, user-centric, and high-functioning cosmetic packaging.
Key Responsibilities
- Transform conceptual briefs into innovative primary packaging and dispensing mechanisms using rapid prototyping and design thinking methodologies.
- Build, refine, and iterate complex 3D CAD models in SolidWorks based on 3D-printed prototypes, user feedback, and DFM (Design for Manufacturing) constraints.
- Seamlessly balance mechanical reliability (sealing, dispensing, durability) with ergonomics, aesthetics, cost, quality, and sustainability goals.
- Oversee the engineering and project management of unit tool development and conduct rigorous mechanical and functional testing on trial samples to make critical design adjustments.
- Partner closely with internal team to translate ambitious product ideas into functional technical assemblies.
- Proactively propose and recomment new packaging concepts to fuel the team's long-term goal
- Monitor and evaluate emerging technologies from external partners and suppliers, finding clever ways to leverage their capabilities into our designs.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Degree holder in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience managing OEM product design.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Experience in the tech, cosmetics, small appliances, or pumps/food packaging industries is preferred.
- Deep mechanical engineering knowledge specific to plastic injection molding is preferred.
- Experience with rapid prototyping and design thinking frameworks is preferred.
- Strong command of written and spoken English and Chinese
