Investment Associate (Geology background, mining)

Responsibilities:

• Conduct geological due diligence on mining assets, including resource estimation, risk assessment, and feasibility studies to support investment decisions.
• Assist in corporate finance activities, such as financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting for mining projects and portfolios.
• Support M&A processes by evaluating potential acquisitions, preparing valuation reports, and contributing to negotiation strategies.
• Analyze market trends in the mining industry, including commodity prices, regulatory changes, and geopolitical factors impacting investments.
• Prepare investment memos, pitch decks, and reports for internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and finance teams to integrate technical data into financial strategies.
• Monitor portfolio performance of mining investments and recommend optimizations or divestitures.
• Stay updated on industry developments through research, conferences, and networking to inform strategic recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a closely related field; advanced certifications in mining geology preferred.
• 4-9 years of professional experience in the mining sector, such as exploration, resource assessment, or mining consulting firms.
• Demonstrated interest and foundational knowledge in corporate finance or strong enthusiasm for mergers and acquisitions in natural resources.
• Proficiency in geological software (e.g., GIS, modeling tools) and financial tools (e.g., Excel, Bloomberg).
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret geological data for investment decisions.
• Strong communication and presentation abilities.
• Willingness to travel to mining sites as needed.
• Authorization to work in Hong Kong.
