Job Description

 

Position Overview:

As a GIS Analyst, you will be responsible for creating, analyzing, and maintaining geospatial data to support our various projects. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality GIS products and services. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, proficiency in GIS software, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a remote environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Collect, compile, and organize geospatial data from various sources. Maintain and update GIS databases, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Perform spatial analysis to support project requirements and decision-making processes. Create detailed maps and visualizations to represent spatial data and analysis results.
  • Utilize GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for data analysis, mapping, and reporting. Develop and maintain GIS applications and tools as needed.
  • Develop ArcGIS mapping applications and tools to facilitate the work of Surveyors on field using fibre optic spatial data.
  • Work with stakeholders to implement data strategies, build data flows, and develop logical and physical data models.
  • Reduce ArcGIS map creation time by 50% and automate redundant GIS processes using Python ArcGISAPI and GIS libraries such as ArcPy, Geopandas, GDAL/OGR.
  • Coordinate with Network Designers and retrieve data by analyzing spatial data of a region using mapping software such as QGIS and ArcGIS Pro.
  • Communicate findings and present GIS data in a clear and concise manner to stakeholders.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on spatial data and outputs to ensure accuracy and reliability.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a GIS Analyst or in a similar role.
  • Experience working with GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar tools.
  • Proficient in spatial data analysis and cartography.
  • Strong technical skills in GIS software and related technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
  • Familiarity with GPS and remote sensing technologies.
  • Experience with database management and SQL is a plus.
  • Understanding of spatial data formats and metadata standards.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Advanced degree or GIS certification.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python for GIS scripting and automation.
