Your Role:

An opportunity has arisen within the Business Partnering team for a Lead Finance Business Partner; this position will support a range of business functions across the Bank with responsibility for the on-going management, analysis and reporting of costs and capital expenditure, whilst also supporting the team manager on day-to-day deliverables, ad-hoc tasks and reporting.

This role will include the people management of Trainee Accountants.

Your Team:

The Finance Business Partnering Team is commercially and financially focused, partnering with the business units to deliver business strategy, business growth and transformation while maintaining cost control and optimisation for value. Supporting the business areas with robust business case formulation, challenged appropriately for validity and feasibility and ensuring all programmes are fully costed, analysed and measured for performance. This team adds value through the provision of reliable and independent financial and management information, with appropriate advice and challenges to enhance business performance.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of a risk assured, performance focused, operationally excellent Business Partnering function whilst embedding a culture of quality service delivery to all customers & partners
  • Understand each of the key business and cost drivers of the business, articulate and discuss insights with colleagues of varying degrees of seniority, up to and including executive level, and have challenging conversations with key partners
  • Support the operational delivery of the budgeting and forecasting processes for the Bank; support the consolidation and review of management packs for ExCo discussions during the finalisation of cost budgets
  • Proactively suggest and produce MI that will drive greater efficiency and improved resource allocation, cost management and investment across the Bank
  • Prepare presentations for key audiences, identify key trends/issues/recommendations and provide support to the business community as required
  • Delivery and review of timely, accurate and action oriented operating cost and capital expenditure reporting, incorporating forward looking advice and guidance that provides financial and business insight
  • Support the delivery of all internal reporting obligations required on a monthly/half yearly and annual basis, ensuring high standards of accuracy and service excellence.
  • Evaluate current procedures and processes in order to identify & implement efficiency and accuracy improvements
  • Review and validation of detailed inputs for relevant budget and forecast models
  • Review and sign-off of trainee accountant outputs

Requirements:

Essential

  • Holder of a relevant professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc.) with a minimum 3 years PQE
  • Managerial and/or coaching experience an advantage, capable of developing others
  • Experience of interpreting business and financial information to support/enable business decisions
  • Strong organisational and analytical capabilities with a good working knowledge of financial processes/ systems and proven ability to lead the development of same
  • Proven track record of engaging with and delivering for Finance teams and Senior Management
  • Hardworking, committed and proactive approach to problem solving
  • Self-directed, highly motivated, capable of working on own initiative
  • Results-oriented with an ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines

Desired

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint required. Essbase, Hyperion is advantageous
  • Broad and relevant experience within the banking sector is desirable Excellent report writing skills with a good communication style
  • Sound commercial knowledge and excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to adapt style to audience requirements
