Job Description

Our Client A well-established and diversified wholesaler, specializing in a range of products including Hardware, Steel, Wire, Agricultural Plastics, etc are seeking a dynamic Trading Manager to join their team in the heart of Cork City.

In this role, you will oversee all commercial aspects within your portfolio, driving sales, profitability, and market share through strategic planning and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Craft and implement category plans to enhance the customer/consumer offer, aiming to maximize sales, profitability, and market share.
  • Work cross-functionally to align portfolio success with organizational objectives.
  • Monitor market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscapes to identify opportunities and risks, informing strategic decisions.
  • Use data-driven insights to monitor portfolio performance against targets and drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage product ranges within the portfolio, focusing on innovation and customer relevance to ensure a compelling assortment.
  • Develop and implement pricing strategies to maximize profitability and market competitiveness.
  • Lead the planning and support the execution of promotional activities to drive sales and customer engagement.
  • Oversee procurement processes, including supplier negotiation and management, to ensure optimal product cost and margin performance.
  • Optimize inventory levels to minimize stockouts and excess inventory, ensuring timely product availability.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to enhance quality, availability, innovation, and cost-effectiveness. Continuously review and improve supplier performance.
  • Partner with sales, marketing, and customer teams to implement customer-centric initiatives and drive profitable growth.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strategic thinker with a proven ability to develop and execute trading strategies that drive business growth and profitability.
  • Strong commercial acumen with at least 3 years of experience in developing offers and growing sales within the wholesale or retail industries, preferably in the Irish market.
  • Proven experience in procurement and negotiation, with the ability to optimize costs while maintaining successful supplier relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data and market trends, translating them into actionable insights for informed commercial decisions.
  • Excellent communication, engagement, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence positive outcomes among stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with trading platforms and ERP systems.
