SQL DBA (6 month contract)

Job Description

On behalf of our Client in Cork we are seeking a highly motivated and talented SQL DBA for a 6 month contract with the opportunity to be extended..

Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain SQL Server databases hosted on AWS platform.
• Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize database configurations for maximum efficiency and reliability.
• Implement and maintain database security protocols and access controls.
• Perform regular backups and disaster recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Collaborate with developers and other IT teams to design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements.
• Assist in database migrations, upgrades, and patching activities.
• Document database configurations, processes, and procedures.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a SQL Database Administrator, with expertise in managing SQL Server databases.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services, particularly RDS (Relational Database Service).
• Strong knowledge of database security best practices and experience implementing security measures.
• Proficiency in SQL query optimization, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with database backup and recovery procedures.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Flexibility to work onsite in Cork as needed, with the option for remote work.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in Microsoft SQL Server or AWS.
• Experience with other database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for database automation and orchestration.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation tasks.
