Job Description

Our client an established Property Developer based in Cork are looking for a Procurement Assistant to join their growing team on a permanent basis

Primary Objective

Support the Procurement Manager by handling all buying-related administrative tasks and serving as a primary contact point. Strive to maximize value for money while ensuring that all projects comply with legal, quality, budgetary, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Procurement Manager with various administrative duties.
  • Act as the main contact for suppliers and internal purchasing inquiries.
  • Manage and nurture key supplier relationships through regular evaluations and reviews.
  • Communicate with Site Foremen on multiple residential and commercial construction sites to understand their supply needs and take necessary actions.
  • Generate and send purchase orders to the appropriate suppliers as needed.
  • Ensure timely processing of material orders.
  • Develop and sustain beneficial partnerships with suppliers, focusing on optimizing price, technical specifications, quality, and timely delivery.
  • Address and resolve order delays and errors to prevent future occurrences.
  • Quickly resolve accounts payable queries and adjust purchase orders as necessary.
  • Compile pricing packages from various suppliers for comparison.
  • Negotiate rates and pricing blocks with key suppliers when required.
  • Collaborate with the Procurement Manager to anticipate future site needs and take proactive steps to prevent supply chain interruptions.
  • Keep detailed files on all projects, including contracts, correspondence, changes, amendments, clarifications, and payment schedules.
  • Assist the Procurement Manager by providing information on newly certified products in the market.
  • Participate in project meetings as needed to ensure proper implementation of all commercial and contract procedures.
  • Ensure prompt response and resolution to all queries from senior management.
  • Handle additional advising and reporting tasks as they arise.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in purchasing and the construction industry would be a plus
  • Demonstrated career achievements and cultural fit will be critical in the selection process.
  • Detail-oriented with effective time management skills and a sense of accountability.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience.
