Invest in data foundations first

- Scalable pipelines, clean data, and the right platform are critical before expanding ML teams.

Avoid “unicorn” hires

- The best teams are built with complementary skill sets — not one person expected to do everything across data, ML, and infrastructure.

My advice for candidates:

Be commercially aware:

- Understanding how your work drives business outcomes is just as important as technical capability.

Focus on end-to-end impact:

-Employers value candidates who can take solutions from idea → production, not just build models in isolation.

Strengthen engineering fundamentals:

- Skills in Python, SQL, cloud platforms, and data pipelines are increasingly essential"
