Job Description

This is a broad and varied tax Senior Manager level tax and transfer pricing role within the Group Tax team of an international banking organisation.

This international banking group is recruiting for a broad position within their Group Tax team based in London. As part of a small team of 4 tax specialists, this candidate will take on a broad range of responsibility across corporate tax, front office tax advisory and transfer pricing. This role would either suit a corporate tax specialist looking to get a more varied, international tax focused role in a smaller tax team, or indeed a transfer pricing specialist looking to gain more general tax advisory experience using their transfer pricing experience as the platform.

Key responsibilities:

A key member of the Tax team - managing a substantial and varied portfolio. Providing tax support to a number of business areas and key projects, and managing the delivery of key compliance and reporting deliverables.

Transfer Pricing:

  • Manage day to day transfer pricing risk across Bank and Securities
  • Review transfer pricing implications of new transactions and business proposals
  • Produce management reporting on transfer pricing risk/trends
  • Preparation of transfer pricing documentation

Tax advisory and project work:

  • Provide responsive tax advisory service to front office stakeholders
  • Provide tax input into complex transaction and new product approval processes
  • Review tax clauses in legal contracts
  • Act as lead tax contact on key firmwide change projects
  • Monitor tax changes and communicate to relevant stakeholders
  • Prepare technical analysis of material tax changes

Tax compliance and reporting:

  • Manage certain key tax compliance processes e.g. UK and EU corporate tax filings.
  • Manage advisor relationship where preparation is outsourced
  • Oversee R&D tax claim process
  • Manage preparation of Head Office reporting
  • Lead point of contact for external audit relationship
  • Deal with HMRC on tax compliance matters including HMRC inquiries
  • Manage FATCA reporting
  • Work with operations and custodian banks to ensure withholding tax documentation is in place.

The ideal candidate will be operating at a Manager or Senior Manager level (Big 4 equivalent) either within another financial services organisations, or the equivalent team within a leading accounting firm. They would ideally have experience in either corporate tax or transfer pricing, or even better both. Experience of advising on the tax implications of financial transactions would be advantageous. They will ideally be ACA/ACCA/CTA/ADIT qualified and have an awareness of tax risk and risk control procedures with the ability to engage with non-tax experts and articulate/explain tax issues clearly.
