Morgan McKinley is recruiting for a Risk Manager on behalf of a Top-Tier bank in Belfast on an initial 6-month contract. This role requires the successful candidate to play a leading contribution in the enhancement of existing control frameworks, in addition to a key management role in an ongoing regulatory project. The Risk Manager will be rewarded with a daily rate of £204.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing, implementing, and executing first line of defence testing approaches, monitoring strategies and reporting programs.
  • Produce management oversight collateral in regards to control reporting.
  • Analysing IA report findings and conducting remediation discussions with control/process owners and senior management.
  • Coordination of business responses to Internal Audits; provide progress reporting to senior management.
  • Issue Remediation Oversight: Perform root cause analysis to ensure corrective action plans appropriately address control gap(s); monitor progress against milestones and target dates.
  • Act as a consultant to the leadership team regarding process improvements.
  • Involvement in driving global control remediation projects as required.
  • Developing effective relationships within stakeholder groups, including Business process owners, ICRM, IA and senior business management.

Skills required:

  • Management experience - you will be looking after a small team.
  • Strong experience with risk and control principles including; risk assessments, development of risks and controls matrices, controls design assessments, controls operating effectiveness testing and reporting activities
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise and work diligently under pressure
  • Strong experience in overseeing and delegating to a team under your leadership

Education / Experience:

  • Strong experience managing teams
  • Significant experience in areas related to risk and control, internal audit, risk management or compliance function, at a financial services organisation, or consulting firm
  • Bachelor's degree (2:1 or higher)
