This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing Supply Chain team responsible for ensuring the efficient movement of products across international markets while maintaining the highest standards of trade compliance and operational excellence.
This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in both the strategic and operational management of global trade, customs and freight activities within a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
This is a hybrid role, based in Wexford, with onsite attendance required three days per week.
The Opportunity
As Principal Trade & Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for leading and continuously improving all aspects of trade compliance, customs, duty and freight operations. Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, you will ensure compliance with Irish, EU and international regulations while driving operational efficiencies across the supply chain.
You will also contribute to key business initiatives, manage external logistics partners, oversee freight and duty budgets, and support strategic supply chain projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and continuously improve freight, customs, duty and trade compliance processes across the business.
- Provide strategic and operational guidance to support secure, compliant and efficient global logistics operations.
- Develop and implement trade compliance strategies aligned with business and supply chain objectives.
- Manage inbound and outbound freight activities, ensuring service, cost and compliance targets are achieved.
- Oversee freight and duty budgets, identifying opportunities for optimisation and cost control.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment across supply chain functions.
- Manage and monitor customs controls, duty reporting and trade compliance governance.
- Evaluate, audit and manage logistics providers against agreed service levels and business expectations.
- Collaborate with external agencies and industry partners to share best practice and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Support and deliver key supply chain and trade compliance projects from planning through to implementation.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain or a related discipline.
- A minimum of five years' experience within trade compliance, customs, logistics or international freight.
- Strong knowledge of import/export processes, including HS classification, customs valuation, customs clearance and Country of Origin requirements.
- Experience identifying trade compliance risks and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Previous experience working in customs operations, freight forwarding or international trade compliance.
- A good understanding of Irish, EU and international customs regulations.
- Experience using SAP or a similar ERP/MRP system.
- Knowledge of AEO accreditation and/or Inward Processing (IP) would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
