    Warehouse & Shipping Supervisor

    Waterford Permanent Competitive

    Warehouse & Shipping Supervisor

    About the job

Morgan McKinley is delighted to be partnering with a key client on an exciting, high-priority opportunity for an experienced Warehouse & Shipping Supervisor to join their established team at their facility in Waterford.

Our client is a market-leading manufacturer of sustainable timber construction panels, with award-winning brands renowned for product quality, customer-led innovation and industry-leading customer service.

This is a key operational leadership position, with responsibility for overseeing warehouse and shipping activities, ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining high standards of safety and inventory accuracy, and ultimately ensuring products are delivered to customers in excellent condition and on time.

    The Role

As Warehouse & Shipping Supervisor, you will lead and coordinate the warehouse and shipping function, ensuring operational targets are consistently achieved while maintaining the highest standards across safety, quality, customer service and cost efficiency.

You will play a key role in managing the day-to-day activities of the team, optimising warehouse capacity and shipping performance, and driving continuous improvement across the operation.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead and manage the Warehouse & Shipping team to deliver key operational metrics, including warehouse planning, costs, volumes shipped and turnaround times.
    • Organise and coordinate daily activities to meet operational, staffing and cross-functional requirements, ensuring shipping targets are consistently achieved.
    • Ensure a strong focus on the safe, accurate and timely loading and delivery of finished goods, recognising shipping as the final stage of the customer experience.
    • Maintain accurate SKU records within the Warehouse Management System (WMS), working closely with IT to identify and resolve system issues promptly.
    • Ensure all external service providers comply with site safety procedures and that loads are correctly loaded, secured and prepared for transportation.
    • Work closely with Market Support and Sales teams regarding equipment requirements and loading plans for new product dimensions.
    • Manage satellite warehouse operations and shunting activities to ensure an efficient and cost-effective service.
    • Ensure sufficient warehouse and storage capacity is available during weekends, holiday periods and peak production requirements.
    • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and develop solutions to increase operational efficiency and customer service levels.
    • Maintain and update the Logistics Customer Service Report.
    • Oversee and advise on container loading activities both on and off site.
    • Lead, motivate and develop team members, using Lean techniques and structured problem-solving approaches to drive operational excellence.
    • Maintain clear and effective communication within the warehouse and shipping team and across wider business functions.
    • Ensure ongoing compliance with relevant RSA, road haulage and load transportation legislation and safety requirements.
    • Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement across the operation.

    The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be an experienced warehouse, logistics or manufacturing professional with proven supervisory or management experience and a strong track record of leading teams in a fast-paced operational environment.

    You will ideally have:

    • A Level 8 HETAC qualification in a relevant discipline, together with at least 3 years' experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
    • Previous supervisory or management experience within a warehouse, logistics or manufacturing environment.
    • Demonstrable experience in team leadership, people development and employee motivation.
    • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
    • The ability to lead, empower and motivate teams to consistently achieve operational KPIs.
    • A proactive, self-motivated approach, with the ability to work independently and use initiative.
    • Strong IT skills and experience working with inventory management or warehouse management systems.
    • A practical, solutions-focused mindset with an interest in continuous improvement and Lean methodologies.
    • A strong understanding of workplace safety and relevant road haulage/load transportation requirements would be highly advantageous.
