Roles/Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel on corporate finance, M&A, and cross-border transactions, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations.
- Collaborate with senior management on strategic initiatives, advising on legal risks, regulatory issues, and franchise matters.
- Lead legal activities across multiple product areas, ensuring the company's business decisions align with legal guidance and industry standards.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local regulators and relevant authorities, ensuring that key legal developments are appropriately managed.
- Manage internal and external legal resources to meet the company's legal needs efficiently and effectively.
- Drive collaboration across internal teams, ensuring coordinated outcomes on matters of common interest.
- Oversee the day-to-day legal activities while managing and developing human resources in the legal department.
Required skills
- Native-level fluency in Japanese, both written and spoken.
- 5+ years of legal experience in financial services, either in an international law firm or in-house legal role.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred skills
- Previous experience in the Asia market, with knowledge of multi-jurisdictional laws and regulatory environments.
- US Bar license or equivalent law degree, with a deep understanding of international financial regulations.
