Take the technical lead on Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) development with a global automotive technology company in Tokyo. As an ADAS System Design Leader, you will lead system-level development from requirements analysis and system design through project execution and validation.
Working directly with major automotive manufacturers and cross-functional engineering teams, you will translate customer requirements into actionable engineering plans while balancing quality, cost, and delivery. Key Responsibilities
- Lead ADAS system design and development across the full product development lifecycle.
- Analyze automotive client specifications and translate requirements into clear technical actions for cross-functional development teams.
- Manage project schedules, monitor development milestones, and oversee engineering change processes to support successful delivery.
- Lead system design reviews and coordinate technical activities across software, mechatronics, validation, and functional safety teams.
- Participate in technical meetings with automotive clients, negotiate specifications, and communicate complex engineering concepts clearly.
- Conduct root cause analysis and drive issue resolution to continuously improve system performance and design quality.
- Balance customer requirements with internal engineering priorities while maintaining quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- Demonstrated experience leading automotive system design and development projects.
- Proven experience in customer-facing technical communication, requirements analysis, and engineering project management.
- Hands-on experience coordinating cross-functional teams across software, mechatronics, validation, and functional safety.
- Experience managing complex system development activities, project milestones, and engineering changes.
- Strong knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies, including Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) or similar approaches.
Soft Skills:
- Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to drive complex automotive engineering projects from requirements through execution.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities for identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to balance customer expectations and internal engineering requirements.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills when working across multidisciplinary and international engineering teams.
Language Requirements:

Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with automotive cybersecurity standards and related development requirements.
- Knowledge of configuration management processes within automotive system development.
- Experience working with Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) frameworks and development processes.
- Broader knowledge of ADAS, autonomous driving technologies, electronic architectures, or functional safety would be advantageous.
