Job Title: HSE Operations Manager
Location: Either Surrey or Manchester
Pay rate: £25.00 per hour (circa £50,000)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 5.30pm
Working pattern: Hybrid but travel to various offices required each month
Start date: ASAP
Duration: 6-12 months +
I am currently recruiting for an experienced HSE Manager to join an established global organisation initially on a temporary basis for up to 12 months. The purpose of this role is to provide a safe working environment for all members of staff and abide by all rules and legislation for Health & Safety and Environment Duties include but not limited to
- Providing a proactive, efficient and effective nationwide Health & Safety, and Environmental service to the required levels which exceeds legal and other requirements
- Ensuring professional standards are set and maintained, so the company is a safe and secure place to work.
- Reflecting the corporate responsibilities and demands that the company expects
- Working with the ISO Management System Manager review, evolve, develop, and implement a combined management system for Health and Safety, and Environment (HSQE) management ensuring full compliance with legal requirements and ISO standards.
- Developing Health and Safety policies, procedures and guidance and making recommendations on their implementation and application. Ensuring statutory requirements are being upheld throughout the organisation e.g. CDM, COSHH, RIDDOR, DSE, DSEAR, Fire, Manual Handling, Working at Height, Hot Works, Risk Assessments etc.
- Providing training for staff in relation to HSE policies, practice and procedures.
- Leading on the design of Environmental Policy ensuring full compliance with legislative requirements and in accordance with best practice standards.
- Devising, developing and monitoring Risk Assessment strategies
- Facilitate the communication of the findings from audits, inspections, accidents, incidents, near misses, risk assessments, reports and ensure the timely completion of actions arising
Skills and experience required
- Ability to develop and maintain good relationships internally/externally and at all levels
- Excellent communication and influencing skills
- Highly organised & able to prioritise and work on own initiative
- Driven to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrate customer centric behaviours and a passion for customer service
- Able to demonstrate good decision making - perceptive, experience + evidence based
- Understanding of relevant legislation in relation to Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental issues
- HSE qualification such as NEBOSH and IOSH membership (Desirable)
- Previous experience of dealing with HS&E processes
