Haken Data Center Technician Niigata - Server & Network

Join a globally recognized hyperscale technology company as a Data Center Technician in Niigata, supporting the reliable operation of critical server, network, and data center infrastructure.

As the company expands its data center footprint in Japan, you will play a hands-on role in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing servers and network hardware at a new regional data center in Niigata.

This role is ideal for an infrastructure professional with practical experience in server hardware, networking, Linux, and data center operations who wants to work with hyperscale cloud infrastructure and cutting-edge hardware in a safety-focused engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, rack, cable, and configure new servers, switches, and network hardware.
• Perform diagnostics and troubleshoot faulty server hardware, components, and cabling systems.
• Repair and replace server components, including CPUs, RAM, motherboards, and storage drives.
• Monitor data center infrastructure health and respond promptly to hardware alerts and site support tickets.
• Troubleshoot Ethernet, fiber optic, switching, and other physical network infrastructure issues.
• Manage local spare parts inventory, hardware RMAs, and equipment lifecycle tracking.
• Escalate complex physical or logical network issues to Tier 2 engineering teams.
• Use Linux or Unix-like command-line tools to perform basic hardware diagnostics.
• Support facility audits and ensure compliance with power deployment requirements.
• Follow site safety procedures and operational protocols within the data center environment.
• Coordinate with remote engineering teams, local contractors, and vendor staff to resolve infrastructure issues.
• Support time-sensitive operational requirements, including shift rotations and system emergency responses.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience:

• Hands-on experience troubleshooting server hardware, including CPUs, RAM, motherboards, and storage drives.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, Ethernet cabling, fiber optics, and switches.
• Familiarity with Linux or Unix-like command-line interfaces for basic hardware diagnostics.
• Practical ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, cabling, and infrastructure issues in an operational environment.
• Ability to work in shift rotations and respond to system emergencies when required.

Soft Skills:

• Strong problem-solving skills with high attention to technical detail.
• Clear communication skills for coordinating with remote engineering teams, contractors, and vendors.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a technical team in time-sensitive operational environments.
• Adaptability when responding to changing priorities, hardware incidents, and emergency situations.
• Strong safety awareness when working with data center hardware and infrastructure.

Language Requirements:

• Japanese: Fluent / Business level
• English: Conversational level
• Ability to communicate effectively in Japanese with local contractors and vendor staff while coordinating with remote engineering teams in English.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, A+, Server+, or Cisco CCNA.
• Experience with data center infrastructure management or environmental monitoring systems (DCIM).
• Experience working with high-density data center power and cooling environments.
• Business-level English proficiency.
• Previous experience supporting data center, server, network, or cloud infrastructure environments.
