    Senior Credit Risk Manager

    Sydney CBD Permanent $180k - $220k Hybrid

    Senior Credit Risk Manager

    About the job

Join an established, high-growth Australian-headquartered payments fintech specialising in integrated omnichannel merchant solutions in this newly created Senior Manager, Credit Risk role. This unique opportunity allows you to be a trusted advisor, providing essential guidance, support, and challenge across a variety of areas within the business.

I'm supporting this organisation exclusively on this search, and they are very open to what the ideal candidate looks like. This will give you the opportunity to truly shape the credit risk function, bring your expertise, and make a mark on this growing business. The goal for this role is to grow into a Head Of position in the future. The business has a great supportive culture, excellent leadership and a hybrid working model from their Sydney office.

    Responsibilities will include:

    • Design and execute credit risk frameworks and policies that balance growth with portfolio performance, ensuring compliance with Australian regulatory standards.
    • Develop, deploy, and maintain credit scoring models, scorecard tools, and merchant risk frameworks to pressure-test assumptions and refine decisioning.
    • Oversee portfolio performance and merchant credit exposure across all channels, identifying emerging default risks early to execute swift mitigation strategies.
    • Partner closely with teams across the business to educate, innovate, and translate complex risk concepts into actionable insights for commercial stakeholders.
    • Deliver insight-led reports for senior leadership, focusing on macro trends, strategic direction, and clear action plans.

    Key Requirements:

    • 8+ years of credit risk experience within merchant acquiring, payments, fintech, or agile financial services environments.
    • Hands-on quantitative skills with tools such as SQL, Python, or R to build, validate, and oversee scorecards and underwriting models.
    • Modern tech capability, including the practical application of AI tools, machine learning, and decisioning automation to accelerate risk analysis.
    • Deep regulatory knowledge of the Australian credit landscape, scheme rules, and merchant risk governance.
    • Strong executive presence, proactive ownership, and clear communication skills to influence leadership and drive strategic change independently.
