An exciting opportunity has become available for a qualified accountant to join the finance team of a leading financial services organisation.
This role offers exposure to regulatory reporting, statutory financial reporting and finance transformation initiatives within a complex and highly regulated environment. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across Finance, Treasury, Risk and Technology while supporting the delivery of critical reporting obligations and driving continuous process improvement.
About the Role
As a Regulatory Accountant, you'll support the preparation of APRA Prudential and financial reporting while ensuring robust governance, strong controls and high-quality reporting outcomes.
You'll contribute to process improvements, assist with technical accounting matters and help strengthen reporting frameworks through automation and enhanced data quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare regulatory returns and ensure reporting obligations are delivered accurately and on time.
- Assist with statutory and financial reporting requirements, including periodic financial statements and board reporting.
- Prepare head office reporting and maintain supporting documentation.
- Support interpretation of regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
- Maintain detailed working papers, documentation and audit evidence.
- Respond to regulatory and audit enquiries in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Partner with Finance, Treasury, Risk and Technology teams to improve reporting processes and data quality.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting activities and improve operational efficiency.
- Contribute to finance projects focused on governance, controls and continuous improvement.
About You
To be successful, you'll bring a strong technical accounting background together with experience operating within a regulated financial services environment.
You'll ideally have:
- CA or CPA qualification.
- Experience in financial reporting or regulatory reporting within banking or financial services.
- Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and IFRS.
- Exposure to APRA prudential or regulatory reporting would be highly regarded.
- Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical capability.
- Experience working with large datasets and reporting systems.
- Exposure to SQL, Python or other data tools would be advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
