Application Administrator / Application Support Specialist
Contract Role | Immediate Start | Sydney CBD Hybrid
We are currently seeking an experienced Application Administrator / Application Support Specialist to join a busy and collaborative technology team supporting a broad range of critical business applications.
This is a hands-on applications support role suited to someone with 3-5 years of experience who can hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will work across approximately 40 business applications, including both COTS and internally developed .NET applications.
The Role
You will be responsible for providing Level 2/3 application support, managing escalated incidents, coordinating with third-party vendors, and supporting ongoing system administration activities across a complex applications environment.
Working within a close-knit team of 7, you'll contribute to maintaining business-critical systems while collaborating with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to resolve technical issues efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and resolve escalated application incidents within agreed service levels
- Coordinate and manage third-level escalations with external vendors and suppliers
- Support and administer a broad range of business applications
- Assist with user account management and access administration
- Support SQL Server, IIS, and Azure-based environments
- Produce customised reports and system support documentation
- Participate in testing activities and deployment support
- Coordinate software upgrades and system changes
- Maintain licence allocation and utilisation records
Skills & Experience
- 3-5 years' experience in Application Support / Systems Administration
- Strong experience supporting applications environments (not desktop or Windows support)
- Recent experience with:
- MS SQL Server
- IIS
- Azure technologies (highly desirable)
- Experience managing Level 2/3 incidents and vendor escalations
- Exposure to COTS and/or .NET-based applications
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- ITIL certification or equivalent experience highly regarded
- Relevant IT degree preferred
Working Environment
- Hybrid working arrangement - 2 days onsite per week (Mondays or Wednesdays & Thursdays)
- Standard business hours (9am-5pm) with occasional planned after-hours work
