    Processor Field Applications Engineer - Osaka - Nagoya

    About the job

    A global semiconductor company is seeking a Processor Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to provide technical expertise throughout the semiconductor sales and customer development cycle in Osaka or Nagoya.

    In this customer-facing engineering role, you will help customers develop embedded processor applications by recommending technical solutions, developing software and example code, and debugging applications within customer systems. You will work closely with sales and product teams to secure customer designs, support projects through development, and help bring new products into production.

    You will also translate customer requirements and competitive insights into recommendations for future product development while delivering technical documentation, presentations, workshops, and customer training. This is an opportunity to combine embedded software engineering, processor technology, semiconductor applications, and technical pre-sales within a global semiconductor organization.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide technical expertise throughout the processor and semiconductor sales cycle.
    • Support customer engineering teams on-site to secure design commitments and win processor business.
    • Understand customer technical requirements and recommend appropriate processor solutions.
    • Develop custom embedded applications, software, and example code to support processor implementation.
    • Debug software and application issues within customer systems.
    • Support customers throughout design, development, testing, and production stages.
    • Collaborate with sales and product teams to support active designs and convert customer projects into revenue.
    • Analyze competing semiconductor and processor solutions and identify technical differentiation opportunities.
    • Communicate customer requirements, technical challenges, and market insights to product development teams.
    • Recommend new product capabilities and feature enhancements based on customer requirements.
    • Develop software and system application notes and other technical documentation.
    • Deliver technical presentations at conferences, customer seminars, workshops, and training sessions.
    • Build strong technical relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    Experience:
    • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in semiconductor applications, embedded software, processor development, or a related engineering field.
    • Strong embedded software development experience supporting processor implementation and debugging.
    • Working knowledge of applications involving PC motherboard controllers and system management controllers.
    • Experience troubleshooting software and application issues within embedded or processor-based systems.
    • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
    Soft Skills:
    • Clear verbal, written, and presentation skills for explaining complex technical solutions to customers.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for resolving application and software issues.
    • Effective teamwork skills when collaborating across sales, engineering, and product functions.
    • Strong initiative and time-management skills with the ability to deliver projects on schedule.
    • Adaptability to manage multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
    • Ability to build influential relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
    • Ability to clearly communicate customer requirements and their underlying business rationale to product teams.
    Language Requirements:
    • Japanese: Fluent
    • English: Fluent

    Preferred Skills & Qualifications

    • Experience working as a Field Applications Engineer (FAE), Applications Engineer, or Technical Sales Engineer in the semiconductor industry.
    • Strong customer-facing experience supporting processor or embedded system design projects.
    • Ability to build strong technical and commercial relationships with customers.
    • Experience translating customer needs and market feedback into product recommendations.
    • Experience working closely with semiconductor sales and product management teams.
    • Ability to prioritize effectively across multiple customer projects and respond to changing technical requirements.
    • Experience delivering technical seminars, workshops, customer training, or conference presentations.
