Join an established semiconductor manufacturer in Mie as an Export Control & Trade Compliance Manager, leading security trade compliance and export control operations within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
This management position will play a central role in strengthening the company's export control and security trade compliance framework, including export licensing, technical classification, regulatory reviews, internal compliance programs, audits, and employee training.
You will ensure compliance with Japan's Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act (FEFTA) and applicable international trade regulations while collaborating with internal departments and overseas locations. This is an opportunity to combine export control expertise, regulatory knowledge, and team leadership within the semiconductor manufacturing industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage Special General Bulk Export Licenses and other relevant trade control authorizations.
- Conduct export control and security trade reviews in accordance with FEFTA and applicable international regulations.
- Review technical classification determinations under list-control requirements and relevant international regulatory frameworks.
- Review physical product exports and international transfers of technical information and intellectual property.
- Establish, revise, and maintain internal export control regulations and the Internal Compliance Program (ICP).
- Plan and conduct internal trade compliance audits to identify and address regulatory risks.
- Develop and deliver employee training and regulatory awareness programs related to export control and security trade compliance.
- Monitor amendments to Japanese and international trade regulations and communicate relevant changes across the organization.
- Coordinate appropriate business responses to regulatory changes with internal stakeholders and overseas locations.
- Lead the export control function while supporting team development and effective compliance operations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- Practical experience in security trade compliance, export control, or trade management within electrical, electronics, semiconductor, precision equipment, or a related manufacturing industry.
- Experience managing an organization or leading a team, including developing team members and driving business activities.
- Technical college (KOSEN) graduation or higher educational background.
- CISTEC STC Advanced certification.
- Practical knowledge of export control regulations and compliance processes within a manufacturing environment.
Soft Skills:
- Strong compliance mindset with the ability to balance regulatory requirements and business needs.
- Ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into clear, practical business decisions.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

- CISTEC STC Expert certification, or willingness to obtain the qualification after joining.
- Experience obtaining and managing Special General Bulk Export Licenses.
- Direct export control experience within semiconductor, electronic component, or industrial equipment manufacturing.
- Experience designing or improving security trade and export compliance processes.
- Experience planning and conducting internal compliance audits.
- Experience collaborating with global teams or overseas business locations on trade compliance matters.
