A leading Top 10 accountancy practice is looking to appoint an Indirect Tax Assistant Manager to join its growing national VAT team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on technically challenging advisory projects for a diverse portfolio of clients, ranging from entrepreneurial businesses and mid-market organisations through to large international groups and public sector bodies. You'll work closely with experienced Managers, Senior Managers and Partners, gaining hands-on exposure to complex VAT issues while developing the technical and commercial skills needed to progress your career.
The Opportunity
As an Indirect Tax Assistant Manager, you'll support the delivery of a broad range of VAT advisory assignments while managing client relationships and developing your technical expertise. You'll work as part of multidisciplinary teams, helping clients navigate complex VAT legislation, minimise risk and identify practical commercial solutions. The role provides genuine advisory exposure, excellent mentoring and a clear pathway towards Manager within a collaborative and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of VAT advisory projects across a broad portfolio of clients and sectors.
- Prepare technical VAT advice, reports and client deliverables, applying UK VAT legislation and case law.
- Assist with complex advisory assignments, working alongside Managers, Senior Managers and Partners.
- Build strong client relationships, acting as a day-to-day contact for allocated workstreams.
- Analyse client data and provide practical, commercially focused VAT solutions.
- Collaborate with colleagues across Tax, Audit and Advisory teams on multidisciplinary projects.
- Review work prepared by junior team members, providing guidance and constructive feedback where appropriate.
- Continue developing your technical knowledge while supporting the growth of the wider Indirect Tax practice.
About You
- Experience in VAT or Indirect Tax gained within practice, industry or a specialist advisory environment.
- A good understanding of UK VAT legislation and an interest in developing your advisory expertise.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a commercial mindset.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to build relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A collaborative approach and a genuine desire to continue learning and developing within Indirect Tax.
