Stock Accounting Analyst - Temporary Contract
£350 - £400 per day
Our client, a prestigious international luxury hospitality group, is seeking an experienced Stock Accounting Analyst to support a major global stock transformation project. Based in Mayfair, this is an exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded and discreet organisation with an extensive international stock and warehouse network.
The business manages significant volumes of stock internationally, across multiple locations and warehouses. Working closely with the Finance Director, the successful candidate will play a key role in reviewing and analysing global stock holdings, optimising warehouse storage configurations, and identifying opportunities to improve inventory efficiency. This will include assessing obsolete and surplus inventory, determining what can be disposed of, retained or transferred between locations, and ensuring stock is held in the most appropriate locations.
This is a hands-on analytical role requiring previous stock and inventory experience, ideally within FMCG, retail or hospitality. The successful candidate will be highly proficient in Excel, confident manipulating large volumes of SKU data and comfortable working with manual stock reporting systems, including Xero.
The position is based in Mayfair, five days per week, with an initial contract of at least six months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyse stock holdings across the global business, ensuring accurate visibility of inventory across multiple international locations and warehouses.
- Support the optimisation of global warehouse storage configurations, ensuring stock is positioned efficiently and appropriately across the international network.
- Identify obsolete, excess, and slow-moving stock, making recommendations for disposal, retention, or redistribution.
- Assess opportunities to transfer stock between international locations to optimise inventory levels, warehouse capacity and reduce unnecessary expenditure.
- Analyse large volumes of stock and inventory data, including SKUs, using advanced Excel functions, and reporting techniques.
- Maintain and manipulate stock records within existing manual Excel-based systems and Xero, investigating discrepancies and ensuring inventory records are accurate.
- Work closely with international finance and operational teams to understand stock requirements and identify opportunities to improve stock management processes.
- Support the wider global transformation project, providing detailed stock analysis and financial insight to the Finance Director to inform strategic decision-making.
About You
- Part or fully qualified Accountant.
- Previous experience in a Stock Accounting Analyst, Inventory Analyst or FP&A Analyst role, with a strong focus on stock and inventory.
- Experience managing and analysing stock within FMCG, retail, hospitality, or a similar inventory-heavy environment; international warehouse exposure would be advantageous.
- Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to manipulate large volumes of SKU data and produce detailed stock analysis.
- Experience working with manual Excel-based stock systems and ideally Xero, alongside a strong understanding of stock movements, obsolete inventory, and warehouse optimisation.
- Highly analytical, energetic, and personable, with excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach.
