We're supporting a growing private healthcare business based in Central London with the appointment of a Management Accountant. This is a broad, hands-on position that blends management accounting with key financial reporting responsibilities, ideal for a first-time mover from practice (ACA/CA) looking to make the jump into industry.
This role offers excellent exposure to statutory accounts, audit, tax, fixed assets, and IFRS 16, while also supporting commercial analysis and monthly management reporting. You'll work closely with a high-calibre finance team and report into a supportive Financial Controller, with the opportunity to build strong cross-functional relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Management Accounting
Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts with commentary on key variances vs budget and forecast.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting cycles, working with operational stakeholders across the business.
Support preparation of internal monthly board reports and KPIs.
Provide insight to senior leadership through ad hoc analysis and financial modelling.
Financial Accounting
Contribute to the preparation of statutory accounts in accordance with UK GAAP / IFRS.
Support the year-end audit process, including preparing audit packs and liaising with external auditors.
Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register; oversee depreciation, additions, disposals.
Assist with IFRS 16 lease accounting, including calculating lease liabilities and right-of-use assets.
Prepare VAT returns and assist with corporation tax workings in conjunction with external advisors.
Ensure strong balance sheet controls and accurate period-end reconciliations.
Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to streamline reporting and close processes.
Support finance systems improvements and documentation of internal controls.
Candidate Profile
We're particularly interested in candidates making their first move from practice.
ACA / CA qualified (or equivalent)
Strong understanding of financial reporting standards (IFRS / UK GAAP).
Experience preparing or auditing statutory accounts, and involvement in audit processes.
Confident Excel skills and a good grasp of core accounting principles.
Proactive, with excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.
Experience with IFRS 16, tax, or fixed assets (either in practice or industry).
Exposure to healthcare, multi-entity, or regulated sectors (via clients or previous roles).
Industry-qualified candidates (ACCA / CIMA) with strong financial reporting experience also considered.
