The Financial Advisor role involves providing expert, tailored guidance to clients on a range of financial matters, including retirement planning, investments, protection, and savings. Advisors help individuals, families, and businesses develop and implement strategies to achieve long-term financial security and prosperity.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Relationship Management: Building and maintaining long-term relationships through proactive financial reviews and personalized planning.
- Holistic Financial Advice: Delivering comprehensive advice tailored to clients' specific short- and long-term goals and circumstances.
- Needs Assessment: Interviewing clients to determine their income, expenses, insurance coverage, tax status, risk tolerance, and financial objectives.
- Strategy Development and Implementation: Recommending and implementing strategies for cash management, insurance coverage, investment planning, and other areas.
- Portfolio Management: Managing client portfolios and regularly reviewing accounts and plans to determine if changes are needed due to life events, economic changes, or financial performance.
- Business Development: Proactively seeking new clients and referrals through networking and relationship building.
- Collaboration: Working with internal specialists (e.g., in pensions or investments) and external professional advisers (e.g., accountants, tax advisors) to ensure the best client outcomes.
- Compliance: Ensuring all activities comply with the Central Bank of Ireland's regulations and internal company standards.
- Knowledge Updates: Keeping up-to-date with the latest financial legislation, market trends, and product developments.
Typical Requirements
- Qualifications: QFA (Qualified Financial Advisor) qualification is essential; additional certifications like RPA, CFP, or SIA are advantageous.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in a financial planning or advisory role is typically required.
- Skills: Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, and sales skills are necessary.
- Knowledge: Deep knowledge of pensions, protection, investments, and financial planning strategies is essential.
