A leading Big 4 accounting practice is seeking a Tax Manager to join its Private Business team in Manchester.
This team works closely with entrepreneurs, privately owned businesses, and private equity backed companies, supporting them with a wide range of tax matters throughout the lifecycle of their businesses. From day-to-day tax advisory to major transactions and strategic planning, the team helps clients navigate complex and evolving tax issues while supporting their long-term growth.

The Role
As a Manager, you will take responsibility for managing a portfolio of clients while supporting senior leadership on complex advisory projects. The role offers exposure to a diverse client base and a wide range of tax issues affecting privately owned and entrepreneurial businesses.
You will:
- Manage a portfolio of private business clients, acting as a key point of contact for tax matters
- Provide advice on a range of corporate and shareholder tax issues affecting privately owned groups
- Support clients through business restructures, transactions, and strategic tax planning initiatives
- Work closely with specialists across tax, deals, and other advisory teams to deliver integrated solutions
- Oversee the delivery of tax compliance work while identifying opportunities for additional advisory support
- Manage project delivery, ensuring work is completed to a high technical standard and within agreed timelines
- Coach and develop junior team members, reviewing work and supporting their professional development
- Build strong client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the team
Your Experience
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- ACA / CTA qualification (or equivalent)
- Strong UK tax technical knowledge
- Experience working with privately owned or mid-market businesses
- The ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously
- Strong project management and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills and a client-focused mindset
- Experience mentoring or supervising junior staff
- A proactive approach and a genuine interest in developing long-term client relationships
